Our Mission
To uphold and exercise our inherent rights and sovereignty as the North Bay French River Algonquins, while preserving, promoting, and revitalizing our unique culture, language, traditions, and connection to our ancestral lands and waters for the benefit of present and future generations.
The North Bay French River Algonquins have a long and proud history in this region, our connection to the land stretching back countless generations. We are a vibrant and resilient community deeply rooted in the lands and waters of our traditional territory. Our traditions, language, and cultural values continue to shape our identity and guide our path forward.
Membership
With over 600 members and rapidly growing, the NBFRA is the proper present-day representative of the Algonquin/Nipissing Nations in the North Bay and Lake Nipissing areas (the North Bay region).
Currently, membership cards serve as proof of Algonquin Ancestry and can assist students in obtaining funding for their education.
Once the NBFRA receive official government approval, these cards will also provide hunting and fishing privileges with defined parameters. In the meantime, membership fees are being used primarily to cover our solicitor’s costs.
Interested in becoming a member? Contact us for more information, it will be our pleasure to assist you!
